This book is very old and at first I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it because Lassie Come-Home will never lose but this is an original theme with a semi-believable plot and you will undoubtly find yourself loving Lad as much as Master and Mistress did towards the end. A truly heartwarming classic.

This is the most wonderful book I have ever read. I've read this over and over, and I'm never bored! This story will leave you cheering for Lad, thouroughbred in heart and soul. You will cry, and you will laugh. This is an outstanding book.

Lassie who? A childhood favorite. One of the greatest unknown dog stories ever. Terhune's Lad is a great dog hero that will warm your heart and bring that "warm-fuzzy" feeling to the surface. It is a truly under acknowledged book in the dog story genre.

Forget Lassie! This is the quintessential dog story, and if you haven't read it, you're the poorer for it. Every child should read it. Every adult should read it. Terhune knows dogs, and he creates a true, real dog hero with power and compassion. This is an animal you want to be like!

Get this story. Read it for yourself and read it to your kids. If you aren't crying by the end, you don't have a heart. If you're a cat person, you'll be converted.

OMG I loved this book so as a youngster (& you can see I gobbled up many others by this wonderful author). I was so moved by the ending (it's a slightly fictionalized true story, as are all of Terhune's) that I cried every time I passed it where it lay on the coffee table for at least a week, LOL.
