“This books is what I would consider a "daydream book." The concept reads like someone sitting around thinking, "You know what would be cool? If I won $300 million in the lottery and bought a mega yacht. It would have a helicopter and a sea plane and a cigarette boat and it would be stocked with food and weapons...and then zombies took over the world, but I was on the yacht with all my friends and family and my wife, who's an ex-model and gourmet cook, and..."
Dreaming up these kind of what-if's is a fun way to kill time, but it doesn't make a compelling story. There is no real conflict in the story. The main character is too perfect to care about and I never felt like any of the major characters were ever in real danger.
There is a subplot with a character stuck in Los Angeles during the zombie outbreak. This portion of the book was the most entertaining sections of the book. He was in danger and that made him interesting. There are a couple other interesting sections that I didn't want to mention and risk giving a spoiler, but they are rare.
I read the entire book and I gave it 3 stars, so I'm not 100% negative on it. I'm sure it has an audience, but it's obviously not me.”
