- Samhain "Sam" LaCroix: Main character, a new necromancer. Killed Douglas in the first book. Brid Blackthorn's boyfriend.
- Bridin "Brid" Blackthorn: Sam's girlfriend, a hybrid werewolf. Future pack leader.
- James: House-spirit, ages much slower than humans. Is able to turn into a cat and small dragon.
- Ramon: Sam's best friend, was infected with a rare were strain, can now turn into a were bear.
- Douglas Montgomery: Sam's defeated rival. A powerful necromancer who has a backup plan.
- Haley: Sam's sister.
- Frank: Sam's human friend. Used to work together at fast food resturant. Sam hired him as his assistant.
- Chuck the Norriser: One of the garden gnomes. Took his name from Chuck Norris, as he is greatly admired among the nomes for his battle skills.
- Bran: Brid's quiet elder brother, had to step down as the future pack leader due to his sexual preferences.
- Sean: Brid's boisterous brother.
- Ashely: A harebringer and Sam's aid in all things dead.
- Brooke: One os Sam's beat friends. Was murdered by Douglas in the first book. Now she is working as a harebringer.
- Minion: A former actor who Douglas brought back so he could finish his movie. Now works for Douglas.
