“This book was the basis for one of my favorite movies, Smoke Signals. The book is a series of connected short stories about life on the Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation and how a young boy deals with his father's alcoholism and abandonment.”

Didn’t Like It

“Felt like I was reading the same short story over and over again. Not that I didn't enjoy it the first or even the second time, but the same phrases and themes were so repetitive. That said, Alexie is certainly a writer with talent and I'm looking forward to trying again.”

    “I would say this book is much more sardonic then his other books and by that course could be considered light. I caught him when he was giving a speech at CSULB and from what i understand it was drasticly different then his other speeches as it was completely light hearted. anyway, if you love this book then read indian killer!”
