“I liked this book. It gave a different prospective for the whole Wizard of Oz story and I liked how it delved into the mind of the 'Wicked Witch of the West", who truthfully wasn't all that wicked. Seeing where she came from and how she was brought up.....it provided some insight. The plot was sort of dragged out for the first half of the book. At times, I had a hard time getting into it. But about halfway through, the plot picked up and it got alot more interesting. All in all, a good book and I do plan on reading the rest of the series. ”Kathy wrote this review Wednesday, May 8, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“The three stars represent the average rating for this book. If I could divide it in half the first half would get 4 stars and the last half 2.
Wicked started out as a fun, fast paced romp and then at the halfway point it suddenly bogs down and goes from being an enjoyable read to a chore to read. The section titled "In the Vinkus" is where it all changes. So much so in tone that it feels like two different writers were involved.
I'm now leery of reading any further into the Wicked Years series. If Son of a Witch and the other sequels are more like the first part of the book, fine and enjoyable. If they're like the second half then no thanks.”

“Absolutely loved this book, musical, and all literatures associated to this novel”Hongkwon A. Kim wrote this review Wednesday, May 1, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“While I do think it could've been much shorter and dragged on a bit I really liked this story. The author linked it into the original Wizard of Oz almost seamlessly and I found it even more enjoyable to read considering how many of the characters I already knew. I'm glad I know what the musical is about now and may even go to see it! Not what I expected but definitely worth a read.”Devon H wrote this review Tuesday, April 30, 2013. “Interesting take on the story, yet a little hard to read through. The whole point seemed to be anti: anti-government, anti-religion, etc.”Kathy M wrote this review Saturday, April 27, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I really enjoyed reading this because it is so different from the musical. This is a lot more in-depth and dark than the musical portrays. A great read, can be confusing at parts though.”kderoshia wrote this review Thursday, April 25, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“This one was hard to rate. I was pretty neutral; I didn't hate it and I didn't love it. But, ultimately, I decided to give it only two stars because it took forever to get the plot going and took forever to finish reading it.”Leah B wrote this review Tuesday, April 23, 2013. “I could not finish this book. I'd seen the stage production and loved it so I figured the book was a no brainer. I got roughly halfway through that thing and finally went hunting for other reader's reviews. I needed to know if I was alone in my utter disappointment and to my relief I discovered I wasn't and was further disappointed to find that holding out wasn't going to be rewarded with a stellar ending. One reviewer literally addressed each issue that had been a mental stitch in my side for the duration of my read and she stuck with it just as I'd planned to, hoping for the enlightenment (or whatever) at the end to make it all worth it. Apparently, there was none and taking that in partnership with my own feelings I just let it go. ”fyrefly322 wrote this review Friday, April 19, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful?
