“Wow, this was fascinating! I was enthralled by The Count of Monte Cristo, and The Three Musketeers, as a kid. Well, this is about (the author of those) Alexandre Dumas's father, and 'history' was never so interesting to me! I learned so much about France & its revolution/governments, the new world & politics, race & slavery, etc., from this amazingly well researched and very nicely written book.
