“I first read this book many years ago, I quite enjoyed it. The author truly has done the book justice in her background knowledge for this book.
Ayla is a orphaned 5 year old from an earthquake left all alone and very injured when a group of the Others come upon her. They want to abandon her. For she looks quite different than they do. But the medicine woman Iza refuses to leave her.
This is a very long story that last from her childhood to adulthood. Ayla ends up with the Clan and living with the Medicine woman and Shaman she will learn their trade. But the Clan will not trust her because of her looks. The story has some violence, and prejudice that is hard to believe. The end is hard to grasp. You need to read the next book. ”
