I read the the first titles of the Clan of the Cave Bear series back when they were all the rage. I really enjoyed the books, they were great, hard to put down stories. when the lag between sequels was bridged, I just never continued with the series, although I'm sure the following sequels are just as unforgettable.

Probably one of the most interesting books you will ever read, and one that gets better the more you read it. Even if paleoanthropology was never your thing (and is it really ever anyone's THING?) be prepared to get lost in the world of the Neanderthals! Reading this book reveals so much about how people lived 10,000 years ago and is so intriguing. The storyline is captivating. You will be hooked! The original book in the 5-part series (eventually 6-part series) is by far the best. Just. Read. It.

great series. I can't remember what material is in which book so I'll just say that they are all pretty good.

I read this book so long ago and still remember so much about it. Who would have thought I would be interersted in a book about the ice age, but it was amazing. Jean Auel is a gifted writer and her explicit detailed descriptions of every scene and character brought the story to life. The entire series was great.

I've always felt like some editor got a hold of Jan Auel after this first book and told her what people really wanted, what would really make money. They were wrong.

The detail and research that went into this book was extrordinary paired with a wonderful story.

This is the best of her series of cave bear books. You might learn more about plants and medicinal uses than you ever intended, but the story is fascinating. Believable. Great characters.

Loved this! It is the beginning of Ayla's story about being found by the clan and raised. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

One of my favorite series of all time. Very accurate detailed descriptions, and what's awesome about this book is the description of communication that took place despite the lack of spoken language as we know it.

Excellent book about a girl in time raised by Neanderthals and how they lived. The detailed descriptions let one see into the past. Great book, can get a little too bogged down in details at times though.
