“This was one of the best and most interesting books i have ever read. I read it in my free time over the summer pat by part, which was easy since, admittedly, it isn't fiction nor is it in a novel format. Each two ages is a section about a certain great concept or idea that changed humanity forever in chronological order from before recorded history to 2008. They are not all positive, for example the first concept is canibalism, and others include genocide and holy war. Some more positive concepts are those of Republic, Democracy, logic, and the scientific method. If this doesn't sound like a serious book, i would like to assure you that i read it (though not in order) from front to cover. It opened me up to some very interesting concepts and ways of thinking (consequent of its subject, i covers almost every philosophy, religion, and ethical paradign). Even if kept simply for reference or for flipping through every once in a while I highly suggest this book”

Yes, it's glossy, yes it has lots of pictures, but the writer is Felipe Fernandez-Armesto, for goodness sake! You are getting one of the BEST writers out there, and as a result I could not put this book down, literally!
A truly magnificent triumph of a book. Ideas, indeed. ”
“Whatta Anthropology! This book, although a hard read, is awsome. Concludes thousands of years of our life on earth in smart, sophisticated and dazzling way!”
