For anyone who doesn't know, this book was made into a TV series in Iran in the 1970's and was (and still is) extremely popular (I have a really grainy copy somewhere). I wasn't sure how I'd feel about reading it in translation-- there's a lot that doesn't translate over very well- but overall it was really good and, at times, still managed to be extremely funny. Although the book has some very touching and sad moments, I think it does an excellent job of attempting to explain some of the...

I do believe that this book is a masterpiece. You can find a spread but deep sociological and anthropological view of Iranian society in it. It's not just humor, there's a glorious mind behind every single phrase.

    I absolutely love this book.

i love Asadolla Mirza! He is the most hilarious character i've come across this year! As an American reader, reading the english translation, I hope that Americans read this, learn and understand more about another culture!

A book you can read many times and every time to have good time reading.

When the series were on show I was too young to get the fine jokes . But in a few years I read the book and it fascinated me. I just remember my grand ma's look whenever I burst to a laughter (as if my poor grandson has gone crazy...)
