“A very interesting story. I wasn't sure how the author could pull it off and make it seem believable but he did. Adrian had so many thing going wrong and yet he knows he needs to save the young girl he saw being kidnapped off of his street. As the reader you know who has her and what is going on, you are just reading along to see how the two sides meet and the final outcome. A rather gripping thriller.”Carrie F wrote this review Friday, October 12, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“"What Comes Next" by John Katzenbach is an outstanding and remarkable book! Jennifer wants to escape her mom and her small town by running away, but her plan is foiled when a man and woman kidnap her off the street. Jennifer is now number four and the kidnappers set up a website people can watch while they torture her! There was one witness to the kidnapping, an old professor who is near death and speaks to his dead family members.
I liked reading Jennifer's thoughts while going through this experience and the people watching it online. This is an outstanding read that was very hard to put down! I couldn't help but think to myself, "Would I be watching this if it were real?" Would you? What comes next is you reading this gripping novel--you will love the ending!”
“This thriller was oddly creepy and rather unmemorable. Professor Adrian Thomas suffers from a dementia type disease and observes what he thinks maybe the kidnapping of a teenaged girl. Rather than committing suicide after his diagnosis as planned he becomes involved in solving the mystery of who this young girl is and where has she gone. Professor Thomas hears the voices of his wife, brother and son in hallucinations which guide him along (ok - so that is a bit odd). The other character in the story is the single mom cop who is working the case from the other side when Jennifer is reported missing. The tale devolves into the sordid online world of sexual torture and abuse... Not his best.”Ann P wrote this review Friday, July 6, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
