“Oh the descrepensies in the text. Obviously Mr. Salvatore would have to change a few things when he went back in time to develope Drizzt's character. So for those who read the Dark Elf trilogy first, bear in mind that there are a few things different in the Icewind Dale trilogy that are smoothed out as the story progresses. the only really big changes were how Guenhwyvar came to be Drizzt's companion and Drizzt's overall age. Otherwise, the stories fit together rather seamlessly. Considering...”
