Description edit see section history

Now in paperback, the third installment in the classic tales of the Legend of Drizzt. When a lone drow emerges from the Underdark into the blinding light of day, the Forgotten Realms world will be changed forever.

Characters edit see section history

  • Drizzt Do'Urden: a goodly drow who has finally reached the surface. But the transition will not be easy. He can barely see during the day, his weapons and enchanted gear are failing him, he cannot speak Common, and the weather is getting suspiciously colder. What is a lone drow to do?
  • Roddy McGristle: a bounty hunter who is obsessed with catching Drizzt.
  • Montolio (Mooshie) DeBrouchee: a blind ranger and follower of the goddess Mielikki.
  • Hephaestus: an ancient and huge red dragon. His proper name is Velcuthimmorhar.
  • Cattie-Brie: a human child who has been adopted by a dwarf king. Catti-brie lives in a dwarven mine on the tundra of Icewind Dale.
  • Bruenor Battlehammer: a grumpy but good-hearted dwarf and king of the Battlehammer Clan.
  • Liam Thistledown: A human, the youngest son from the Thistledown family.
  • Connor Thistledown: A human, the eldest son from the Thistledown family. He recognises Drizzt as a dark elf.
  • Tephanis: A sprite.
  • Ulgulu: A Barghest Whelp.
  • Kempfana: A Barghest Whelp. Ulgulu's brother.
  • Dove Falconhand: A ranger.
  • Lagerbottoms: A Hill Giant.
  • Kellindil: An elven archer.
  • King Graul: An Orc King.
