It Had to Be You

by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

The Windy City isn't quite ready for Phoebe Somerville -- the outrageous, curvaceous New York knockout who has just inherited the Chicago Stars football team. And Phoebe is definitely not prepared for the Stars' head coach Dan Celebow, a sexist jock taskmaster with a one-track mind. Celebow is everything Phoebe abhors. And the sexy new boss is everything Dan despises -- a meddling bimbo... (read more)

I'm a big fan of SEP, but I just did not like this one at all. I didn't like the way SEP dealt with some of the serious aspects she brought into the book. And I wasn't a huge fan of the hero of this one either. Even though I did enjoy the heroine, Phoebe.

Maybe all the football talk is what turned me off with this one. I was planning to read the rest of the series, but I don't think I will now. The plot was boring, the hero was uninteresting, and I don't know why so many romance readers love it so much.

This is one of my favorite SEP books. I love Dan and Phoebe. Their journey to their HEA was well done and you are rooting for them the whole time, even when one or both is being stupid. The secondary characters are also great and so funny. SEP is one of the funniest writers out there IMHO.

This was a wonderful book. SEP's characters were WELL developed. They were so real they jumped off the pages. When Phoebe cried I wanted to cry. When she laughed I laughed. I thoroughly was engrossed in this story. I plan on reading more romance stories surrounding the STARS football team.

this series is obviously more risque than some of the other choices on my shelf, but i really like this author. these are definately good chick books that made me cry at the end.

This is my favorite book by S.E.P., and that's saying a lot. Phoebe is terrific and Dan is just the man for her. It just takes her a while to realize it. :)

I did not care for this book very much,I listened to it, so maybe it was the reader. I knew what was going to happen and the characters annoyed me, kept making the same mistakes over and over.

I really enjoyed the heroine in this book. Phoebe was more than she initially appeared to be.
