- Waverly Marshall: The female protagonist. She is the oldest girl born on the Empyrean and the second oldest of all the children. She is engaged to Kieran Alden and successfully escaped the New Horizon in the first book, Glow. She is very against religion especially after what happened in the New Horizon.
- Kieran Alden: He is the oldest boy and child in the Empyrean. He is the new Captain of the ship and preaches the word of God to keep moral high.
- Seth Ardvale: The second oldest boy in the Empyrean. He is a dark and conflicting character due to an abusive childhood. He is in love with Waverly since he was younger and seems to have a connection with her. He is Kieran's biggest threat. Dirty blond hair, square shoulders, blue eyes.
