Action-filled, cautionary tale about adopting game-changing technology before societal frameworks are in place to manage it - in this case, autonomous attack drones. Similar cautions have been issued in the past about "scary" new technologies coming to the fore: ballistic cannons, long-range bombers, cruise missiles. But, does not detract from the well-told story, full of scenes so wild they cause me to picture the producers and director asking themselves "How can we afford to film this!?" And, I am beginning to feel that Suarez is the best bet for receiving the mantle from William Gibson (someday, not today), because he creates these extraordinary worlds where very bizarre things happen, but which nonetheless and otherwise seem not very far from modern day.
