3.5- Chaos, but fun- I wanted some good old Southern fun, nothing too serious and this was it. It was filled with crazy overblown Southern colloquialisms and overblown typecasts. Then to fracture the pacing there is the Demon Hunters use of formal or archaic language.( I had to stop and look-up a couple of words.) Reading this story was like being in a crazy tornado. There was so much going on and some many side players and they were all unique/weird.(Freaky) I went through such a gamut of feelings, I was snickering, appalled, thrilled, and pissed off. Yes, I did say I enjoyed it, so stay with me. The Demon Hunters are Hotter than Hot, I know because every woman in the book said so, quite openly, aloud. Strangest creation in this book- Frodo, not a hot thing, but a Chihuahua Alligator, 'ouff' he's terrible.
This is not a serious book, it pokes fun and sometimes stabs it at you. I'll read the next one and may go back and read the first.

This is the second book in the Demon Hunting series which is set in the little town of Hannah where all sorts of strange things happen and the townsfolk are all hilarious and a little bit nuts.
Meet Evie a very shy woman who wouldn't say boo to a ghost she has caught the eye of very sexy demon hunter, Ansgar.
When Evie is charged with murder she did not commit she must find out who did the deed while dealing with her feelings for Ansgar and trying to build her confidence up.
The characters in this book are hilarious and I want to read the rest of the series to find out hat happens to them.
A funny and witty read which I really enjoyed.

This book was pretty funny. Not Janet Evanovich funny, but not bad. It started off a little slow, but it got better as it went. I like Evie and Aunt Muddy. Ansgar is a bit stereotypical, but he's okay. The town reminds me of my own hometown.

The magic of the south with a hot demon hunter and a sassy human turned Dalvahni. Evie Douglas is 100% a southern belle, as is her BFF Addy. Well, I admit I didn't read book one and this was only felt a few times in the book but the main idea of what I missed was that Addy was dating a demon hunter and apparently at some point prior to this book Evie had dated and fallen in love with his brother, Ansgar. But life happened, aka demons got in the way, and the only way to save her was to kill her and then make her a dalvahni as well. Of course right after that Ansgar decided she was better off without him and erased her memories of him completely.

So that's how we find Evie in this book. With no recollection of who Ansgar is or of their time together. Going about her business she comes across the dead body of her bosses' wife. Foul play indeed and she's the primary suspect. I think this book was supposed to be about finding out who the real killer was so that Evie would be off the hook, but things got sidetracked along the way a few times. There's even a chihuahua serial killer! Not something you see every day.

This book was definitely enjoyable, I think more for someone who has lived in the south, or maybe knows someone from the south. Why? It is loaded with stereotypical phrases and mannerisms only found in southerners. To me this was highly entertaining.

Then there's Ansgar. The demon hunter is hot and supposed to be alpha but when it came to actions I think he fell short. In a way I saw him as more talk than anything actually happening. He was all tough and then Evie would come around and there went his iron fist.

Evie was both funny at times and annoying as hell. At least she had half a brain when it came to the murder and trying to solve it, but she still wanted to do what she wanted to do. I had a hard time making a real connection to her character.

I also thought it was a bit anticlimactic when she does recover her memories. Or Ansgar gives them back. At the end of the day there were some good laughs even a bit of action, but I thought there was a lot of unnecessary filler in this story which kept making me lose my concentration in reading.

The moment I fell in love with Ansgar:
"You are all woman, Evangeline, not the anemic version of what passes for feminine beauty in this reality. You have curving hips and plump breasts that make a man itch to test the weight of them in his hands and his cock sit up and pay attention. You are many things, including delectable and succulent as a ripe peach. But you are not - I repeat not - fat. And if you say so again in my hearing, I will turn you over my knee and spank your luscious little bottom. Is that understood?"

3.5 stars. All was going really well until Evie turned into one of those TSTL heroines around the 60% mark. After that I started skimming until the end.

Demon Hunting in the deep South ,
    Lexi George.

Ok, I’m extremely late with this review, and I apologize, but I had a lot of family stuff going on, and I’ve just now, finally gotten time to finish it.

I have been working on getting this book read for almost 3 weeks now, since it first arrived in the mail, and I decided to take a day to finish it.

First, I’ve got to say, I loved it! But then, I knew I would, I have gotten pretty good at choosing books over the last couple months, and I, being somewhat of a southerner, knew this sort of thing would be right up my alley.

Demon Hunting in the Deep South, is about a girl who, like me, has body issues, and is very self-conscious, she doesn’t believe in herself, and yet she has so much power, that she isn’t even aware. Something traumatic has happened to her, and in her best interest, the love of her life, took her memories, a huge mistake as we later find, because Evie (Evangeline) is a force to be reckoned with.

This is perhaps one of the best love stories I’ve read in awhile, and I’ve read a lot of romances, so that’s something. I loved Ansgar, and his brother Brand and of course, Addy, and Nicole, the other characters in the story, and then there’s Muddy, Shep, and Lenora…so really, I loved everyone…alright, I’m drooling, sorry. But I really did love this book, and I wish I hadn’t taken so long to read it. Lexi George has definitely made a spot for herself on the list of authors I look for.

That being said, I highly recommend this book, to others like me, who love romance, and of course a good murder mystery. I did have a moment, when I thought maybe the dialogue was a bit immature, some of the words supposedly used by southerners, not as known as I’d like them to be, but overall, it was fantastic. I look forward to more from this author, and especially any in this series. Happy Reading.
