“ First thought after a few devoured pages... This is about Zombies?!
Mad Scientist *shrugs & adjusts her skirts* Perhaps some day I should read the synopsis of some of the books I pick up. What do you think? Nah! It is way more fun to be this surprised!!!
Straight away, the first thing you need to know is that Zombies are indeed in this book!
Second, I have never read any of Courtney Summers other books but I will surly be picking them up with nothing with good thoughts and eager anticipation.
In which ever way you want to tag this book: Post Apocalyptic, Dystopia, Zombie Horror or in any other fashion you should believe that you will be entertained greatly. Perhaps just not in the killing spree way. Gritty writing that made me smile about someone jumping off the bandwagon. Graphic gory details. I love me some Gore! I hope you do too but if you don't there was not too much. Also, I should mention that the book is from Sloane's perspective. She pain out just wants to die & since we see the other characters through her eyes... may or may not allow you connect with them.
The story was practical when it comes to the details of the survival plot. Bravery was touched upon and counteracted with irrational & at time cruel decisions.
If you ask, "Mad Scientist was there a swoon worthy fellow in this book?" I would have so sadly shake my head. No swooning but the few spots of light romance were desperate. Wouldn't you want to try to feel something in a time of something as dire at the world coming to an end? ”
