I had the pleasure of hearing the author speak about this book at our local library -- who knew! he's a native son of Phillips, Maine. What a fascinating talk he gave. Great history of piracy, all tied up with 18th century colonial history.

He said that he chose pirates as his vehicle, to carry his stories about the history.

If you ever have a chance to hear him speak, don't miss it!
