“If you follow Jenny's blog...the book is basically a long-form blog...or like catching up on 3 months worth of posts because your blog reader was malfunctioning or something. Yes, there was a bit more chronology, which I enjoyed, but at times my brain was overwhelmed by SOMANYWORDSPERSENTENCE, and I'd have to re-read a paragraph or two.
I laugh a lot when I read her blog, so I assumed the book would be a riot. I only got 3 audible chuckles out (but perhaps I wasn't in the right mindset)?
I enjoyed the childhood stories the best, and the stories about how she and Victor met and got engaged.
I know there were "editor's notes" throughout, but I couldn't help wondering if there actually wasn't an editor, and if Jenny just added those herself. I can see the quandary with editing someone's writing like this (because this is just her writing style), but some edits/direction/continuity might have helped.
She is brave, to talk about her anxiety disorder, and at times...almost easy to relate to. Almost.
I liked it. Didn't love it. Think my expectations were just too high. But, ill keep reading her blog!”
“Laugh out loud funny, even when the author delves into dark subjects... my husband read it after listening to me burst out in laughter when reading!”Stephanie P wrote this review Saturday, November 16, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“Sometimes she's really funny, sometimes she's annoying. I really could only take this book in small doses at a time, even though in general, I liked it. And I agree with a review of this book that I read before buying it: this book comes off as being her blog in book form.”J.H. wrote this review Thursday, October 24, 2013. “This book was difficult for me to finish. I rolled my eyes a lot while reading it. Jenny Lawson's writing was so repetitive and obnoxious (I don't even care about the abundant cursing), and she tries so hard to let you know just how FUNNY and WEIRD and CRAAAAZY she is over and over, screaming it in the readers' faces. Everything about this book and this woman just makes me irritated. I really wanted to like it, but the one or two moments I laughed did not make up for the rest of it.”Hannah Gee wrote this review Saturday, October 19, 2013. “I am officially a Lawsbian after reading this hilarious romp of a memoir. There is nothing this woman won't share...and I loved it. Laugh out loud in church funny, with a side of taxidermy. Who doesn't need fashionably dressed stuffed animals? Indeed.”Jill Hughes wrote this review Monday, October 14, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
Definitely some funny bits that made me laugh out loud, but ultimately, it was just TOO MUCH. A lot of personality thrown into this. Must be read in small doses. ”

“Hmmm, once again I wish there was a "meh" rating, at least something between "I didn't like it" and "I liked it". It was OK. I did laugh outloud a couple of times (the turkeys at the high school story and the way her husband proposed to her were hysterical), but the rest felt like a rehash of her blog, which I don't hate but I don't love either. I think overall I liked the insight on her childhood the most. ”N C wrote this review Wednesday, September 18, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
