Yes | No“ In book four, Amy and Dan Cahill have an hour to pull off an impossible diamond heist in Berlin at the command of the enigmatic Vesper One. Luckily for (although unbeknownst to) them, the seven hostages who ensure their cooperation are not taking captivity lying down. The captive Cahills' daring escape plan reveals the Vespers to be less omnipotent than they seem, but comes at a heavy cost. Then Amy and Dan jet off to Timbuktu without the faintest clue of what they're looking for. All their frantic scurrying means it's Jonah and Hamilton, the B team, who are really hitting the mark at this point in the series.”

When they’re asked to the impossible will they be able to do it time? And what has Jonah, Hamilton and Erasmus been able to find out?
There are a couple of authors that I’m excited to see back on the list for 39 Clues, you just know it’s going to be a good book. Roland Smith didn’t disappoint, despite all the baggage and the characters not staying completely consistent (you have to admit it’s a tad annoying, but doesn’t detract from the overall story) Smith writes a great the story that has you wondering where the next book is. Strongly recommend that you read the first oh gosh what is it now twelve, thirteen, how many books. There’s not much world-building or catching up done at all in this book, great for older elementary kids and anyone who wants a mystery.”
“Another book about the Vespers rising. The kids are held captive, and it is only Any and Dan who can save them.”

Library Pen wrote this review Friday, January 25, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No“This book was the 4th book from the new series. Amy and Dan had to try to steal a diamond from a museum. The Vespers made them do that or else they would kill a hostage. Meanwhile the hostages attempted to escape but Jonah's cousin fell off a cliff and into a river. The Vespers tried to throw them off course but they really wanted a old written book. Amy and Dan got it to them. The hostages were caught and taken into their little cell again. The men were searching for Jonah's cousin so he wouldn't alert anyone of their position. ”
