“ I have never read Prachett before but have read Gaiman and I can say I could barely recognize any of the latter in this book. The plot was a jumble of skits that jumped around way too much. Most of the jokes were aimed more at pop culture than at the biblical story that was being told. The antichrist doesn't even appear in the book of Revelation, something the authors don't really care about. To be fair most writers of this sort of story don't care about that kind of thing but with all the rich material they had to work with the fact that they spent much of the time making lame jokes about "ansaphones" and other such nonsense is pretty disappointing. ”

This book was very funny while still presenting some very thought-provoking themes on the idea of God, religion, and free will.”

Ok maybe not that sublime in humour but right in the Douglas Adams realm. I wish there was more psychological depth but it is a novel packed with happenings of all sorts - also I'm sure the plot would be even funnier if one had more biblical knowledge. The icing on the cake: angels Crowley and Aziraphale, absolute Love for these characters! I am definitely reading more of these authors. erm, Stardust doesn't count...”
