12 year old Helen Keller is born deaf, blind, and mute, with no way to express herself or understand those around her, until Annie Sullivan comes. Half-blind herself, she begins her journey with Helen by trying to help her understand everything. She does that by teaching Helen how to behave respectively and communicate (by signing). At the end, Annie succeeds in doing that.

Reason I chose this book: I remember reading this book in the 8th grade and found it absolutely amazing....

Helen Keller grew up both blind and deaf but became the first deafblind person to receive a college degree with honors. Read this play during High School so I don't remember if the play was well written but it's a short play and so inspirational. Perhaps it's not a bad idea to read if ever interested.
