The Pirate and the Pagan

by Virginia Henley

Wild as a pagan goddess, Lady Summer galloped her stallion along the Cornish coast.  She had dabbled in the smuggler's game to save her family estate, but a wealthy marriage would better serve her purpose now.  Lord Ruark Helford seemed the answer to her reckless prayers.  But as his hot, hungry kisses drew her toward deception and irresistible acts of love, she had to hesitate.  Would this... After reading so many Virginia Henley novels, the characters and story lines seem to be all the same. But a few did stand out: 'Enslaved', which I loved for the time period it's set in (early AD). 'Desired', which had memorable characters. 'The Border Hostage', because I'm crazy for anything Scottish. And 'The Pirate and The Pagan', because it was one of her more lengthy novels, and who doesn't love pirates?!

This was my first Virginia Henley too and I just loved it. This will always be my favorite of hers. I do feel her books have gone a little off as the years have gone by, but I still buy every one.

This was the first of Virginia Henley's books that I read and thought it was a really good romance - one of the best I've read.

    Blurb:
Lady Summer, a one-time smugglar, looks to a wealthy marriage to save her family's estate, and sets out to win the heart of privateer Lord Ruark Helford, a mysterious man she meets at the court of King Charles ll.
