Didn’t Like It“Moderately engaging book that, apparently, is one of a series. It seems to stand up somewhat on its own if you're into mystery novels. I don't recall how this book ended up in my library; I certainly wouldn't buy it if I had to do it over again.” see full review » see other reviews » |
“Not a bad novel, had some fun twists and turns but it was kind of predictable. ”

However, I think her plots are strong enough that she does not need to have such descriptive details. I find myself skipping these descriptions. Marino has become my favorite character ahead of Scarpetta. If you like violence this is the book for you. ”

Those earlier books by Patricia Cornwell are what brought me to the series and has kept me reading them. Unfortunately, I keep hoping the latest offerings will get back to the wonderul mysteries they once were but they just aren't. Her last few books (this one included) are continuations of previous books or the beginning of what will end up being one story written into three different books. Instead of focusing on the mystery and science of her job, the readers spend most of the book reading conversations between Kay and her friends and seeing Kay becoming more paranoid and a perpetual victim instead of being the brilliant doctor she once was. Reminds me too much of afternoon soap operas.”
