This series is great. Some of the books get a bit slow at times. Jordan was a wonderful writer and could bring everything in his books to life. I am so looking forward to reading the last book of this series.

Who reads this stuff?!?!? I listened to the audio version and was pretty shocked that this series ever got off the ground. If the protagonist hadn't spent so much time "gathering her skirts" to leave the room, walk haughtily away, insert verb here, the story would only have been half as long. My "favorite" scene was the extended discussion of all the dresses she purchased after being raised Aes Sedai, for the equivalent of what must have been several pages, and then, oh yeah, as an...

The only thing reading New Spring does before the rest of the series is give you a bit of history that you'll later come to understand later on in the series. I'm just eagerly waiting for the final book to come out. Jordan's wife and son have finally agreed on the author and now we can wait to see what the date of release will be.

@katydid: You chose absolutely the wrong book to read in a series. Ha ha ha!!! NEW SPRING is a book written for those who know Moraine & Lan very well and wanted to know how they met. Try the first book. Even YOU might be hooked. :D :D

My favorite was the extended discussion of all the dresses she purchased after being raised Ais Sidai, for the equivalent of what must have been several pages, and then, oh yeah, as an afterthought, someone has been tailing her for three days! No wonder the series is in Book 18(?) with no conclusion in sight. The actual story, between all the flouncing around, was somewhat interesting, but there were too many mannerisms and too little story for my tastes.
