Now it took me awhile to decide what to rate this simply became as I love the story and Katy I found myself overly annoyed with Daemon. He had his moments where I was like 'awe' or 'yay you pulled your head out of you know where' but then for every step he seemed to take forward he took two steps back. Thankfully I didn't let his tude stop me from finishing a really great book.
Katy is like a lot of people you read this book, book lovers and book bloggers so I she that even though she's younger she could connect with readers that way. Plus I love how she stands up for herself (I don't blame her for not being able to fully fight that Daemon-traction, who could?)
Everything came in stride in this book, parts in the beginning felt slow and there were a lot of moments that were very predictable but they never made me roll my eyes and stop wanting more. I loved Dee and I felt for her same as Katy but I felt that they became best friends rather...quickly. Maybe it was just became they didn't have any close friends themselves I don't really know. Another thing was how well Katy took finding out what Daemon was, I almost wanted to say there is no way she'd be that calm but at the same time she had her own freak outs as things happened so I forgave her.
This book was recommended to me by a few people and while I am normally not into alien books, this one was too good not to read on in the series. Can't wait to dive into the next one.”
“This book was very funny and romantic in a way. the characters bonded very differently than I would of had expected, they kept arguing but in a funny way and don't get me wrong there was plenty of danger in this book, but it was very interesting. It kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I would definitly recommend the book and the series. :) ”emma f wrote this review Friday, July 26, 2013. “Daemon Black. I have heard that name so much since I started blogging. I now know what all the buzz was about! I feel like I am last one in the YA-sphere who has read this book! I mean what has taken me so long? This is an amazing, amazing start to a series , and I am beyond excited to read the next books.
I will say that I have this problem where I read the synopsis and then forget what the book is about , but I know I want to read it. I guess this was one of those cases, because the entire time I was reading, I was thinking the Blacks were descendants of gods or something. Let me tell you, it took me back a little bit when I found out what they actually are. I mean that's not usually something I like. Aliens? I am the type of person who skip the entire class series in Oceanography on Deep Sea critters, because they weird me out looking so alien to anything else on this earth. AND now I am getting off topic, anyway, finding out what the Blacks were creep me a little. I quickly didn't care though.
I love the characters, every single one of them. They are each so vibrant and bring a certain amount of charm to the book. Our MC is a book nerd and a smart ass. She is brave and just someone who you can relate to and you feel like she is a real person instead of just a character in a book.
Daemon is, well, steamy. In all his alien glory, he makes us fall in love with his bad boy atttitude, and moody behavior. He is devoted to protecting the ones he loves and he is bad ass at doing so. I am definitely A Team Daemon member now!
Dee is Daemon's sister, and she keeps our love birds coming back together and brings unity to them all.
We have lots of other characters in there too, some human and some alien. I love them all. Even our crazy villians.
Over all this book mixes just the right amount of steam with action and twists and turns. We are never let bored or with a feeling like the book is just dragging. Like I said earlier, I can not wait to read the other books that are out in the series. If you are like me and haven't read this yet, then do it. You will not regret that decision. ”
“Katy and Daemon can't stand each other but they are drawn to each other at the same time. He saves her from a truck and she finds out what he really is. A Luxen. When she saves him from an Arum, he heals her and they develop a bond. She can hear his thoughts.”Sparky329 wrote this review Tuesday, July 2, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? “Amazing wonderful and now in my top 5 favorites. The chemistry between the characters by far the best that I have read. This author won me over with her writing skills that I went out and bought the rest of this series and I bought a few of her other works. If you a good read that'll make you laugh and fall in love then please don't pass up this book!”Rebecca Buckwalter wrote this review Monday, June 10, 2013.
