Chronicles: Volume One (Chronicles)

by Bob Dylan

"I'd come from a long ways off and had started a long ways down. But now destiny was about to manifest itself. I felt like it was looking right at me and nobody else."

I really wanted to like this because I really enjoy Bob Dylan and think he has led a most interesting life. Somehow, this book just seemed lifeless to me and I couldn't get past about 40 pages. That said, my son loves it. Just didn't resonate with me.

Definitely an interesting book. Dylan writes much in the way he wrote the lyrics in his songs. The most interesting parts for me were his years in New York City and growing up. I think he's making up about half of this, but it's still fascinating. A classic.

I like Bob Dylan about 150% more now that I've read this book. But I'm into books about artists' development.

Just when I thought I couldn't think more highly of Dylan...his genius explodes through this book. His amazing evolution through music, literature and friendships is simply awe inspiring.

This is true Bob D. for any fan of his. He lets you into his life, yet still remains mysterious leaving some questions unanswered. Doesn't touch upon his feelngs about The Band or Wilbury's 2 much, but still worth a read

A well-written memoir covering his early years in Minnesota and Greenich Village, with fascinating portraits of the people and the music that inspired him.
