Chronicles: Volume One (Chronicles)

by Bob Dylan

One would not anticipate a conventional memoir from Bob Dylan--indeed, one would not have foreseen an autobiography at all from the pen of the notoriously private legend. What Chronicles: Volume 1 delivers is an odd but ultimately illuminating memoir that is as impulsive, eccentric, and inspired as Dylan's greatest music.

I have to be honest here...I have this book posted as "I'm reading now", but I have read maybe 10 pages. Since I started, I have been loaned a number of books, so I am reading those first. I hope to get back to this...

I'm not so sure music would be the same without Bobby. I've read this volume over and over again, not to try to get something out of Dylan's diaphanous lines but out of intrigue at how the sentences would sound on a second, third, fourth attempt (always prettier.) The whole book's like a solid album with *necessary* liner notes.

    He never ceases to awe.

yeah. quite a voyage this one. a fine rambling storyteller is Zimmy, i love his cut and paste ways. i like the way he see's things always with an angle you may not have considered.. a man of constant sorrows & hard bitten truths, sometimes the silences[what he doesn't say] is just as intrigueing. He always cuts to the chase, is surprisingly self-effacing. what more can one say... this can only add to the legend. Just keep doing what you do Bob. Your the bomb.
