Logan Pyle is a stay-at-home dad who feels he is stuck in a rut. He is having trouble communicating with his wife, Julie, and their son Owen is going back into toddler behavior. Owen's school wants to put him in a different class, and Logan and Julie are not agreeing on it. They attend Thanksgiving dinner with Bennie, the widow of Logan's father for whom Logan has some feelings. At a friend's birthday party, Logan catches Julie with another man. Logan takes Owen and drives to Bennie's home where he spends a few days. When Owen gets sick, Bennie takes him back to Julie. Logan returns and tries to patch things up with Julie, who announces she is pregnant. Logan decides to continue getting his Ph.D. and the family has an unspoken agreement to work things out.
