Wow. This was fascinating as my mind does not work this way. The complexity of anxiety is dumb founding and exhausting. For me, it is always worth while to learn more how other people work, and what their experiences are so that I can be more understanding and patient. Celebrate diversity. I...

I keep stopping and starting this book. It is one big rambling complaint about life with severe anxiety. Nothing on how to cope or get better. As someone with anxiety I know this is possible.

For me, it is always worth while to learn more how other people work, and what their experiences are so that I can be more understanding and patient. Celebrate diversity. I must admit that I feel very blessed with a more simple mind.

I had to read this after seeing the cover. That damn monkey has haunted me since I was a kid! I mean the actual, literal cymbal-crashing monkey. not the anxiety he is representing. (That got me later ;-)

Anyway, it wasn't as funny as I hoped. It seemed very realistic. I am super thankful that I haven't had that monkey on my back (ha, ha, bad pun intended) my whole life.

Fun to read about LI and Boston but started making me anxious.

Sometimes the learning doesn't come until the end of the book. The storyteller, although regarded in the literary world, he didn't really grab my attention and that's OK as this happens from time to time. As with any work, it is open for interpretation!

The authors self-deprecating and often humorous description of anxiety and "monkey mind" is an enjoyable read in spite of the serious topic. Relateable for anyone who's experienced anxiety.
