“Very inspiring story about a young man's incredible dedication to clean up the rivers. Book zones in on some irrelevant information, however, I would highly recommend the book to anyone.”

With a small grant from Alcoa he buys a boat and can afford dumping fees for all of the junk he finds. From that seed grows the Living Lands and Waters program that is running cleanups all over the country and planting riverbed trees as well. This book describes each season - the people involved, the methods used to pick up the trash and to secure funding. This book motivated me to organize a lakefront trash pickup here in Evanston, IL with the Y-Guides... and we will be doing more. A very inspirational person with a compelling tale to tell - if you are at all interested in ecology or not-for-profit fund-raising then this is a must-read. If you liked Johnny Appleseed - you'll love this!”
