I read this book because my english teacher told me that i had to. It is a book based in Salem Massachusettes in the late sixteen hundreds. victims are blammed on on being witches, and once they are blammed they cant do much to get out of it. People are being hung and a person is even stoned to death. When will this killing spree ever end? Find out when, and read the book. The crucible is written in like a play format. I recommend this book to anyone intrested in play format books and anyone who likes history and witchcraft.

In this play, the author tries to get across to the audience that the society back in Salem was so strict under its Puritan structure. It was impossible to live freely - you had to follow all of the rules or else you would be brutally punished. In this society, the law and the Bible went hand-in-hand. So if you went against any of the 10 commandments you were punished by the government. The main issue addressed in this book was the practice of Witchcraft. Women all over this town were being accused of being witches and carrying the soul of the devil around with them. It was highly shunned upon and most people were hung if they were even assumed to be any part of this sin. One group of girls specifically were being accused and they did everything in their power to stop this accusation and wind up blaming everything on other people.

The book depicts the Salem witch trials. From the opening scene it is clear which time period the book is taking place. The language, and images are all of an earlier time thus showing this is taking place in the past. Each character is portrayed very well, and it is made clear what the feelings of the character’s are. I was very interested in the struggle between the teen girls and their lies. The girls are destroying their community but are so excited by the power that the trial has given them. I see passion and struggle being portrayed throughout the movie. This book was good, especially because it was relevant to what we were talking about in history. I enjoyed reading this book and was able to learn a lot about history and the style of both writing and life. My favorite character in the book was Titchuba. She is the person originally blamed for everything that happened with the witch craft. I would recommend this book as a book to read in english but not on your own time as it takes a lot of thought.

i read this book for my American literature class. it begins slow but the tension builds up and it starts to have twists that you were not expecting. the plot of the play is about a group of girls how went dancing in the woods for fun but they were caught, only two of the girls were identified. from here on they are constantly questioning them until they crack but it takes a turn for the worst the girls begin to accuse everybody of being possed by the devil. this play took place in Salem it is based off of history, and the Salem which trials took place it was a big scare in puritan society and it is now a part of Americas history.

Choose this book because one it look interesting and my teacher told us to. Also when i read the summary it was base of a famouse play.
A group of girls were dancing in the forest until some one saw them. Sice then the girls were once acussing as witch untill they start making lies about being controlled by the devil and there is witches in Salame.
Miller the style he use are so black so many batryals when i read the book. The words he use are hard and enchanting.
My opinion of this book is good and he should do more of this. Also he should do another play like this.
I recommend this to pepeople who like plays and bateryal.

I didnt choose to read this book. I read it with the class but it actually wasnt that bad. It was about witchcraft and people being accused for working with the devil. Most of the ones accused had nothing to do with the devil and had to pay bad consequences for some their lives. The book was kind of hard to understand sometimes because of the way the autor wrote it. Sometimes it seemed like it didnt make sense. Some parts where engaging for the most parts but others bored me. It wasnt the best book ive read but it wasnt the worst. I recomend it to those who like older type of books.

I personally chose this book because it was pretty impresive. Also because it was a class assingnment. This book was pretty much about witch craft. Their was alot of innoscent killing . the innoscent people that were killed were accussed from being witches but they really were not witches. This was a great book for high school students because it is a little hard and confusing to understand but thanks to our high school knoledgde we are able to understand it. The author also did a great job on the type of style he wrote because it was written as a play so it made us students pay more attention. In my opinion this is a great book because it was based on a true story. Wich made us think abpout how people were in the past. I would reccomend thids book to my girlfriend because she likes reading about creepy things.

I chose The Crucible mainly because it was required by my english teacher. It is about the town of Salem and how it is surrounded by witches. The church gets involved to try and convict all the "witches". The town is just a total mess when all this is going on. Read The Crucible if you want to find out the ending. The Crucible is a play so it has it's own unique style. The author used some words that were difficult to understand. I thought that this book was OK. It wouldn't have been my first choice but it was decent. I would recommend this book to anyone that is interested in plays or in history.
