What if a mysterious virus/illness wipes out all of the planet's males - both human and animal? There is apparently only one exception and he is busy trying to find a way to get out of the U.S. and to Australia where currently lives the love of his life. The woman, however, are in charge and have different attitudes to what males have done. The stats are interesting when you start considering which areas of the world have been affected to different degrees - which industries, jobs and so on.”

She shows bravery and skills by rescuing the president and jumping out of a moveing train. She works for a goverment organisation called the Culper ring, which is a secrit service against the gang of the Daughters of the Amason. She also shows she's brave and loyal by protecting Yorick from the Daughters of the Amason at the Washington Monument with her bare hands.”

Book one of the deluxe series sees all male mammals on Earth suddenly dying, with the exception of an amateur escape artist and his pet monkey Ampersand. Gender issues are addressed boldly and unapologetically, and the imperfections of the characters leave the reader free to make his or her own judgments without the presence of an overbearing author's Voice.”

Okay, so a hyphenate, but my point remains the same. I am absolutely hooked to this story. It's very unique and surprisingly introspective, not to mention political, but without being preachy. The humour is perfectly blended with the more serious overtones. Also, for a story about the last man on Earth, there is a surprising lack of sexuality. I don't want to get into the story, other than a brief description:
Yorick Brown finds himself to be the last of the male species, aside from his pet monkey Ampersand. While trekking across the planet to Australia to locate his (hopefully) fiance, he encounters various females, some of whom are trying to protect him against those who want him dead.
If that isn't enough to make you curious, then just think about the idea that a man and a monkey are the only males left. Check this out!”
“A great comic book! Pia's drawing are perfect and Brian K's story is addictive. I'm always one for a good post apoc story, but I like his take on it. Can't wait to read the next installment.”
