What happens to a girl who is kidnapped as a child, held underground by a pedophile for 28 days, and then grows up, marries, and has a child? What happens to a boy with an alcoholic father and a mother who runs away leaving the family? Bobby, now a 36 year old police sniper, kills a man in the line of duty. That man is the husband of the now grown girl, Catherine. Catherine and her son Nathan had been held at gun point by her husband, Jimmy, son of a wealthy powerful judge. Thus begins the story which weaves guilt, anger, and revenge together in this taut thriller. The pace was disturbingly slow for the first hundred pages, but it became impossible to put down the book as it twisted and turned toward the climax.

This book kept me wondering who was behind all of the mayhem. At the end I finally figured it out... I think. ;)
