As close to a memoir Kurt Vonnegut has written, this book is a look at his 82 years of life. Going from coming to age in America, war experiences, or life as an artist, Vonnegut puts himself out there. He is whimsical and fun loving.

“An especially wise book filled with sadness and truthfulness. It's actually my first Kurt V. book and I do need to read more of his work. I should read more books that contrast my point of view but it's nice to read something that actually affirms my feelings and beliefs. I know all these things at my age and Kurt stated them so eloquently and clearly at a later age. I thank him for leaving these works behind and I wish he had been around to see Obama get into office, it might've brightened his day a little bit. In honor of him, I will try my best to be a thinker, not a psychopathic personality who is filled without doubt and remorse. ”

Both humorous and poignant, Vonnegut makes sense of his socialist beliefs while painting an All-American portrait of himself. If you have ever felt like a black-sheep in any sort of social circle in which you have found yourself, this book will make you feel like a hero.”
