The book is about a young boy who disappears from outside a hockey rink while waiting for his mom to pick him up. A manhunt to find the kidnapper ensues in the small Minnesota town of Deer Lake. A new agent for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has just started her new job (and is the first female to be a field agent in the state of Minnesota) and she feels the need to prove herself as a good police officer. The chief of police is a man who has experienced losing his own son and wife in a reckless robbery by a drug addict. The two officers work tirelessly to figure out the clues the kidnapper continues to leave them. The parents of the little boy also have their own troubled marriage that threatens to break under the pressure of losing their son.
Overall, the story is pretty formulaic which I am starting to admit is very typical in the thriller novels I have read. Still, some are better than others, and this was one of them. I did enjoy the story and the writing even if there were some things that I didn't like. There was an inevitable romance in the book which I felt could have been left out. Others in my book club (it was this month's book in a book club I just joined) really liked that portion of the book though, so if this book sounds like it might interest you, don't let that stop you from reading it.
There is a sequel to the book called Guilty as Sin so keep that in mind when reading Night Sins. I had no idea there was a sequel and was a little unsatisfied with the ending until one of the members of my book club told me about the sequel and actually gave me the book. I'm excited to read the next one to tie up the story!

I just knew this book was not the end of the story either and I had it pegged how it would end. Can't wait to read Guilty as Sin.”
“A long for me to read this book, due to happenings, thanks to my new Mother's Day gift I finished the book today. I had doctors appointments, test, and when I was gone to one of the doctor appointments my dog ate my Mag Eye and my book that I had originally intended to read "The Right Hand Of Evil" by John Saul, so I couldn't read without My Mag Eye. I got new glasses and they didn't work either, needed more magnification, so I got a new Mag Eye, and finished the book in 10 days. My usual time. The author, Tami Hoag is a very good writer, and she kept me in suspense the whole time that I was reading. The book was about a boy who was kidnapped by a lunatic who got his kicks out of playing mind games with people. He used people like Chest ponds in a Chest game. The kidnapper was arrested finally after 10 days of the boys captivity, and the little boy came home, in the middle, of the night, on his own...or did he? Could an accomplice brought the little boy home? Looks that way. Nobody knows who though. ”
