• Seraphina Dombegh: A 16 year old girl who is daughter to a lawyer named Claude Dombegh. She is a gifted musician who works as assistant to Viridius. She also has great knowledge about the dragons and helps Prince Lucian in his search for the revolutionaries.
• Phina: Nickname given to Seraphina by Princess Glisselda.
• Mikey: A member of the Queen's guard
• Henri: Add a description of this character.
• Earl of Apsig: A nobleman new to the city. Seraphina has her doubts about his motives
• St. Daan: One of the many saints worshipped in town
• Lucian Kiggs: Bastard prince and fiance to Princess Glisselda. He and Seraphina spend alot of time together investigating the posible coup.

• St. Masha: One of the many saints whorshiped in Goredd
• Aunt Dionne: Mother Princess Glisselda, aunt to Kiggs

• St. Ogdo: One of the many saints whorshipped in Gordetti. St. Ogdo is the saint whorshipped by those who want to rid the world of dragons.
• Eskar: Leader of the dragon police corps in Gordetti

• St. Capiti: One of the many saints whorshipped in Gordetti. This saint was assigned to Seraphina when she was born.
• Lars: A Samsamese musician brought to Gordetti for the anniversary celebration. Seraphina finds he has a secret very much like hers.

• Guntard: One of the musicians who works closely with Seraphina
• Saar Basind: The newskin assigned to Orma. Whether he is there to spy or learn, Orma and Seraphine are not sure.
• Millie: Princess Glisselda's lady-in-waiting.

• Lady Corongi: Princess Glessinda's teacher. She is a follower of St. Ogdo.
• Prince Rufus: Crowned heir to the throne, no one is certain exactly how he died but his death has sparked what may become a revolution.
• Selda: Nickname given to Princess Glisselda by her fiance, Lucian Kriggs.
• Uncle Orma: Seraphina's uncle, a dragon and teacher show does not always follow the rules of the dragan Ker.
• Jannoula: One of Seraphina's grotesques. Jannoula seems to have the ability to take over Seraphina's mind.

• Thomas Broadwick: Follower of St. Ogdo, he hates dragons and thinks ill of Seraphina and her interaction with the dragons.
• Amaline Ducanahan: Seraphina's mother who died giving birth to her.
• Imlann: Orma's father, a rogue dragon who was banished for his refusal to get rid of his hoard.
• Claude Dombegh: Seraphina's father and lawyer for the Queen.
• Abdo: Nicknamed Fruit Bat by Seraphina, he is not only one of Seraphina's grotesques but a real person.
