Glossary edit see section history

  • Misericorde: An ancient dagger crafted by Mortain Himself that full initiates carry. It possesses old, ancient magic, one of Mortain's greatest gifts. On a living man, it only needs to pierce the skin as a cut or scratch in order to release the soul from the body. It is meant as a weapon of grace for it is a way to invoke death and release the soul from painful days spent lingering and pondering one's sins and wrongdoings.

Notes for Parents edit see section history

Reading Level: Young Adults

Recommended for ages 14 and up due to sexual insinuation, there is nothing graphic here. However, the time period encompasses female helplessness and male dominance - present but not overwhelming. The beginning sequence where the main character barely escapes an arranged marriage is probably the most graphic in the book. The length will deter most readers not ready for the content.
