  • Uncle Tom: A faithful and earnest Christian slave on the Shelby farm. Tom helps manage the farm, and is respected by all the slaves. Tom is sold to Haley, a slaver trader, in the beginning of the story.
  • George Shelby: Tom and Eliza's owner at the beginning of the story.
