    I loved "The Longest Day" by Cornelius Ryan, but this really made the war come alive. Ambrose was the chief advisor on "Saving Private Ryan" and some of the vignettes from this book (and its companions "Band of Brothers" and "Citizen Soldiers") are evident in the movie. If you read this book, you really need to read "Ciitizen Soldiers" which is the story of D+1 through the end of the war. My fatehr was in the So Pacific. I wish some writer would make that come alive like Ambrose does for the European theater.

    Yes,it covers many facts related to D day.But obviously can't expect everything from one book,that 2 on a vast topic like D-day..But still,I think there should have been more info about German intelligence failure about D'day.Also I felt a US-bias which is always manifested on most of the war-movies,material,channels like History..No hard feelings,just what I felt...
