“This book is about a girl in England who wants to escape her life of servitude and be a dress designer, and ends up on ship bound for America. She gets on by some fast thinking and becomes the maid of a famous dress designer, Lady Lucille Duff Gordon, who is also boarding. The ship is the Titanic.
This was a very interesting novel. There only a few fictional characters in the story. I found it very interesting to see how the author wove a story around a pretty good fictional tale around the survivors of the Titanic. The story is written around the actual transcripts of the senate hearings that were held following the sinking of the Titanic. The facts are accurate, some liberties and speculations were taken with some of the facts and unknown variables, but otherwise it's pretty accurate.
I quite liked the story.”
