Many say that a book should captivate the reader from the first line. The author definitely managed to do that. I was curious about the story from that first line and I wasn’t wrong.

I'm going to begin this review with saying read this book and watch the Big Sleep (Humphrey Bogart classic) Both equally good noir mysteries! I am a fan of those old Hollywood films and I think the author has captured the essence of that style not only in the story but in the characters. The hero, the heroine, the sidekicks and the bad guy. Witty and Riveting.

It was a book worth reading. The unique characters and the humour were a plus to the plot and the suspense Renee built. There is nothing worse for me than figuring out the big revelation before it was announced in the book; once my suspicions are confirmed, I have no longer the same desire to keep reading the book.
Renee Pawlish found the golden middle though; giving enough to keep things interesting, yet not too much for the reader to solve the mystery too soon.
