Nora Centa: (introduced in chapter 5) Main Character Pronunciation: \sent -ə\ The eldest daughter of Petalou and Spires. Her hair, once jet black is now a muted grey. Worry lines etch her face, adding to the wrinkles time has left. Centa jiggles a lot, with matronly hips, a largish mouth and thin lips, strong chin and grey eyes. At forty-one winters, she is the oldest of the Vedic sisters. Her, long dead, mate was Reftin. Centa tends the Dama Dough and is in charge of the cooking dome.
Emag: (introduced in chapter 24) Pronunciation: \ E-mag\ Head trader for the Vedic Clan. A large, muscular man, his face as weathered as an old oak. He has large, chapped hands, thick, bushy eyebrows and brown eyes, beard. Likes his wine.
Glaston: (introduced in chapter 2) Main Character Pronunciation: \glahs-tuhn\ Mate to Mahonia, a skilled carver of wood. Very Cheerful. Barrel-chested, stout frame and brawny arms. Glaston is a short stocky man with dark wavy hair that he continually pushes back from his cheerful brown eyes.

Nora Petalou: (introduced in chapter 1) Main Character Pronunciation: \pet-uh-loo\ Mate to Spires. She was born in the Sendia clan that had some of the finest weavers of all the Palmir tribe. Matriarch of the Vedic Clan. Amber highlighted with gold eyes. Brown waist-long hair, streaked with silver.
Rasdor: (introduced in chapter 2) Main Character Pronunciation: \ras- dawr\ Immature Dragon Soul bonded with Dragon Host Thol – in Dragon Form bronze with amber wings. Amber eyes.
Rel: (introduced in chapter 31) His Milk Clan, the Falden Clan, specializes in pottery. He mated Deila, and re-located to Vedicville. He is a young man the size of an ox. Rel stands at least a hand span taller than any other man of Vedicville. His broad, muscular chest, with shoulders even wider, tapers to a thick—but not fleshy—waist. He has a rather plane face with grey eyes. He and his mate lost a daughter when she was a year old to the spring floods.
Nor Spires: (introduced in chapter 1) Main Character Pronunciation: \spahyuh- r-s\ Mate to Petalou, born in the Tetrath Clan. Headman of the Vedic Clan. Lean build with salt-and-pepper hair and soft brown eyes.
Healer Sulci: (introduced in chapter 3) Main Character Pronunciation: \ suhl-C\ Apprentice Shaman/Healer of Lista. Lithe build and small stature, brown hair & sky blue eyes, father is a harness and saddle maker.
Thol: (introduced in chapter 1) Main Character Pronunciation: \tohl\ Orphan, adopted by Vedicville. One of the older boys from the village, tends goats in the early part of the story. Dragon Host to Dragon Soul Rasdor. Hazel Eyes and light brown hair—he’s on the cover.
Tindal: (introduced in chapter 1) Main Character Pronunciation: \tin-dill\ Daughter of Mahonia and Glaston with ebony hair and round—almost black—eyes.
Trafal: (introduced in chapter 3) Pronunciation: / tra-fawl/ Daughter of Petalou and Spires. Has outrageously curly red hair and mint-green eyes.
Tragin: (introduced in chapter 24) Pronunciation: \tray-guhn\ A new apprentice from the training center at Healers Home. Tall, handsome, slender youth, blond with light green eyes.
Trella: (introduced in chapter 48) Main Character Pronunciation: \trel-la\ Vera’s Dragon Soul.Red with Orange-gold eyes, daughter of Atheh and Amall.
Tsew: (introduced in chapter 36) Pronunciation: \z-oh\ Orphan boy brought home by Emag. About four winters old. The child does not speak much. He is a survivor of one of the villages attacked to the East. Unruly brown hair and green eyes.
Urtin: (introduced in chapter 3) Pronunciation: \ur-tin\ Apprentice Shaman/Healer of Lista, red-headed, his freckled face makes him look even younger than his thirteen winters.
Nora Vera: (introduced in chapter 2) Main Character Pronunciation: \vear-uh\ Young woman who came to Vedicville, when she experienced Duel Voices, to prepare for First Transformation. Her ebony black hair falls in a straight cascade to her waist with dark, almost black eyes. Host to Dragon Soul Trella.

Mindspeak: The ability to communicate through thought. Simply put Mindspeak works:Dragon to Dragon = Yes, but not over too long a distance. Dragon to People = Yes, if people are known to them or within range of vision and they direct the thought to them. Dragon to Host inside = Yes Host to Host = No Host to other dragons while inside their dragon = Very seldom and then only at short distances. Host to other people while inside their dragon = No Host to dragon soul while inside their dragon = Yes, but can be blocked by dragon.
Volastoque: Creature from the north. The Palmer Tribe fought these creatures generations ago, barely beating them off before they decimated the entire population of the Tribe.
