    -Mohammed Younis
    -Nobel Prize winner from Bangladesh
    -Micro finance and Grameen banks
-during a famine he saw a skeleton like person and this made him think of the ineffectiveness of economics which he was teaching at the university.
-he went to a village and interacted with a woman. He found that the lady buys bamboo for 5rs,makes stools and returns them to the money lender for 5.50 rs.
-It was the lack of credit which was the reason for their trobles
-Initially he gave $27 to suphia begum and said that she could return it at whatever time she feels comfortable. This was something new and the villagers accepted it readily
-This was an individual act and he felt the need to instituionalise this system. Thus the GRAMEEN BANKS were born.

Excellent book, excellent plan to battle world poverty, interesting world view. I also heard Dr. Yunus speak at George Washington University this year (2009). Highly recommend.

The innovation and resilient spirit amazed me. I love the application of entrepreneurship that turned a socialist university professor into a raging free market capitalist.
