  “Such a sweet book! I read it when I was in fourth grade or so and loved it then and had wanted to read it again when I found it in a "discard" pile at my school. I am glad I grabbed it and reread it. I think the ending is so sweet and the tale is powerful; of the love children have for adults and the responsibility we have to be good role models for them.”

  “Read it while I was teaching Middle School, and after I'd seen the movie. Book better. I thoroughly liked the book. Well written, believable characters, although I could not read it without seeing Christopher Walken and Glenn Close in the starring roles. That's not a bad thing. A good story of people committed to working hard and gutting it out to survive hard times.
