As close to a perfect story as I've ever read. Absolutely beautiful in every way. The author has a poetic tone that pulls you into the story and keeps you reading despite the sometimes painfully sad story. Love that death is the narrator and I love that the story is so strong that it survives...

This is a very different book. Not an easy read, but I did get used to the author's odd style of writing. Writing from Death's perspective during WWII in Germany was brilliant. While the story is fiction, the situation was all too real. This book made me mad, laugh and cry. But in the end, it's a great read.

This is one of the most moving, original books I have ever read. The book is self-reflexive, set in Nazi Germany and told from the point of view of Death. It is innocent, yet poignant and very well written.

This is a wonderful book that takes a difficult situation and describes the pain and colors necessary to tell a great story.
