I cannot believe I am going to say this, but I was not impressed with Cursed. *Gasp* I know! I love all things Jennifer L Armentrout. I think part of the problem was I had read books like Shatter Me and the Denazen Files first, so there was nothing fresh about this book.
I really had a hard time connecting with Ember. She has had a hard life the past 2 years, but I felt her whining was a little overwhelming. I kept waiting on her to grow up and start realizing things weren't all that bad, but that never really happened.
JLA is a goddess when it comes to writing male characters I want to runaway with. Hayden is no exception to that. I absolutely loved him. But the relationship between Hayden and Ember was lacking in my opinion. I could feel it on Hayden's side, but I could not connect with Ember in anyway.
I would recommend this book to all the die-hard Jennifer L Armentrout fans. A lot of you might actually like it. I personally just felt like I was re-reading a book I had read before, and that made me not like it.”
“Love love love!!! I really wish it wasn't an individual novel! I seriously love this book! It remind me of Shatter Me but it was so different! Recommended to people who liked Shatter Me!”(: TerryBerry ~ "It's the fate of all creators: They fall in love with their creations." ~ :) wrote this review Sunday, March 17, 2013. “I love Jennifer L. Armentrout's books and Cursed is another one hers being added to that list. This particular book had me in an angry frenzy most of the time. But only because I felt the main character, Ember, was in a position that would normally have me in a "fit to be tied" position. (To have a touch to kill and no way to control it would terrorize me. But to be put in a position where you lose the choice to make your own decisions? Hence: Fit to be tied! ) But even with this aggression I feel, the story is a really good one. There is a love story involved along with a lot of suspense, mystery, supernatural "gifts" and more. I feel the story is put together very well, as all of Jennifer's are.
I don't like to tell actual events in a book because I feel it can take away from the story before you read it. So, I will just state that I highly recommend this book and strongly believe that you will enjoy it as much as I did. ”

“Although I consider this book one of my favorites, I can honestly say that I doubt it's a re-read for me. For most of the book I felt sad and depressed but I was still invested in the story, well, that's understandable since Ember, the main character's touch kills. I guess I shouldn't have expected her to be all lively and happy, not being able to have that connection with someone is certainly a depressing existence. This is one of those books that I had to step away from a few times, it was so intense with emotions, a lot of anger, sorrow, heartache, even paranoia. Ember felt she's cursed and soulless, she's estranged from the life she had before her curse, and she is all alone to deal with her current life. Which ever way you look at it, Ember is a very stubborn or determined girl, she was not able to be swayed one way or another about what she believes, and doesn't put her trust in anyone and carries a lot of anger, understandably.
I felt Embers emotions every step of the way, when Ember was pissed off, I felt pissed off. Although, I pleaded for her to reign in her emotions because I saw that she needed perspective and wasn't going to get it with all that baggage of feelings she was carrying around. She alone has to deal with what's happened to her and make sure her family is safe and on top of all that, she has to figure out if she can control her ability.
The book is called [book:Cursed|11945589] so I guess Armentrout did the title justice, it's not a sweet story about a girl whose skin kills with just one touch, it's a heart-wrenching emotional explosion.
So happy it's a non-series for two reasons: one, I don't have to wait for the next book to be released and two, I don't thing I would've continued it anyway, so two defeats reason one.
So, I think I should clear up that I really do like this book, I just tend to get completely lost in well written books no matter how difficult the topic and I have to be honest how it made me feel and also see past (or accept) the feelings I felt because maybe there the feelings the author wants to convey. One of the things I liked about this book was the romance between Ember and Hayden, alone, no romantic triangle.”
