Hoot

by Carl Hiaasen

Unfortunately, Roy’s first acquaintance in Florida is Dana Matherson, a well-known bully. Then again, if Dana hadn’t been sinking his thumbs into Roy’s temples and mashing his face against the school-bus window, Roy might never have spotted the running boy. And the running boy is intriguing: he was running away from the school bus, carried no books, and–here’s the odd part–wore no shoes.... (more)

I didn't like Hoot. A boy named Roy moves from Montana to Florida and meets a bully. The bully is always beating him up, but Roy tries to ignore it. One day on the bus Roy sees a boy running past a bus stop. The boy has no shoes or backpack. I won't tell you what happens next, but Roy meets the running boy and befriends him.

i thought the book was a little too simple for my liking but it was worth reading. I really liked the deteremination set by Roy and how he was willing to give his time for his goal. there was a good plot to the story and that is why i kept on reading it. the book is definetely one that you have to finish once you start.
