“I was so disappointed in this since I enjoyed Skinny Dip and have even taught Hoot (made into a movie!). Carl tried way too hard in my opinion to be funny and his characters were so off beat as to be alien.”

“I read Skinny Dip last summer and couldn't stop chuckling. This one, I kept waiting to chuckle. Not even sure it made me smile. Yes, the characters are funny, but not nearly as funny as they think they are. The issues are real and the plot definitely builds effectively, but overall, not at all what I'd hoped.”

“I am on my last disk but so far this book is an enjoyable enough read. I like Hiaasen's nutty characters very much. Makes me at least feel not so alone in the world. He writes respectfully of nature which is what draws me to his writing in the first place. He has a quick wit and a wry, sarcastic humor which I enjoy mixed in with a little slapstick. As in his other adult fiction, there is quite a bit of raunchy sex. Would love to see if he could write an adult fiction without it.”
